New case study: Sustainable chemistry at the University of Liverpool

We were recently invited to visit a UK university chemistry department where we met with both teaching staff and students to carry out a new case study: Sustainable chemistry at the University of Liverpool.

University of Liverpool case study with Asynt on sustainable chemistry

In order to understand the importance and the emphasis of sustainability within the department, as well as get an idea of what it’s like to study at the university, we spoke with Digital Chemistry postgraduate student, Michael Gillin, who shares his experiences in the short video below, discussing:

  • Why he recommends Liverpool University to prospective students
  • How Liverpool has made their teaching labs more sustainable
  • Advice to new students
  • The wider chemistry community in Liverpool

If you’d like to know more about sustainable chemistry and smart changes the university have made to their chemistry lab, you can see further resources below including a CondenSyn air condenser study and a DrySyn oil-free heating block study.

Many thanks to our hosts, Michael Gillin, Dr Gina Washbourn (Senior Lecturer in Chemistry) and Andrea Bainbridge (Student Marketing & Recruitment Officer, Faculty of Science & Engineering) who were involved in this project and welcomed our visit.

Watch out for a further collaboration with the University of Liverpool soon, but in the meantime, if you’d like any further information about anything seen here, please don’t hesitate to contact us, either using the live chat here on our website or by emailing [email protected].
