OrgSyn: Celebrating 50 years of development in organic chemistry
On 27th and 28th February, 2017, many of the greatest organic chemists from the UK will be gathering at “OrgSyn” to speak. Find out more!

Back in January the IUPAC accepted the evidence indicating that four new elements had been produced, fleshing out the bottom row of the periodic table. They were given temporary names to start with (such as ununseptium – element 117), but the formal names have now been agreed! They aren’t any easier to pronounce though…
Asynt has introduced new reaction inserts for its DrySyn Heating Block range enabling scientists to now conduct precisely controlled heated/stirred experiments with up to 27 parallel reactions.
Asynt has introduced GasTrap gas purifiers for analytical laboratories using Gas Chromatography (GC), High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) or Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) instrumentation.
Asynt joined partners, BioChromato, and many of our distribution partners at Analytica, the international trade fair in Munich, Germany last week. We showed off the Smart Evaporator, the NEW DrySyn Spiral Evaporator and discussed the upcoming new products available from our catalogue soon!
Tall ship, the Mary Rose, was lost to the ocean depths in July, 1945. Amongst the traditional tools used to preserve her heritage were some innovative new ones too, such as the freeze dryer.
With what seems to be a celebrated day of the year for every occasion it would be remiss of us to ignore World Baking Day on Tuesday 17th May but we’ll look at it from the Chemists viewpoint!
With new inventions needed for the next James Bond movie, the Israeli team of researchers from the Weizmann Institute of Science might have just the thing!
The world of chemistry needs innovators and creators and I’m so glad to have learned more about Sir Harry Kroto, who would have absolutely met this criteria! Find out more about my discoveries here.
Martyn Fordham recently visited Asynt and Uniqsis partners in Japan with some very useful findings relating to chemistry laboratories there and how things differ from our experiences in the UK. He also discovered just how bad he is at Karaoke!
