New technical support within the Asynt team

We are pleased to introduce our new Asynt team member, Katherine Oram, who is here to aid our internal team, our customers and distributors with technical support.  Her official title is Technical Marketing & Communications Specialist.

Katherine Oram - new technical support within the Asynt team

With a strong scientific background, in addition to technical support, interactive product demonstrations and training, Katherine will be working on documentation for existing products and R&D projects as well as liaising with both our sales team and marketing team to share interesting chemistry updates.  She’s going to be a very busy lady!  Do look out for her on all your social media channels or feel free to get in touch via the contact details below if you’d like her help or have an interesting project to share.

We’ve put some questions to the lovely Katherine to give you a little more insight and help you get to know her a bit better – read on to find out more:

  • How do you think your closest friends would describe you?
They’d probably describe me as a bit of a know-it-all, as I seem to absorb completely random pieces of trivia that are still somehow completely useless for general knowledge quizzes. (Noted for any future planning of team events!!)
  • Have you ever had a nickname?  Details please!
Everyone goes through a phase of calling me Kat at some point and I have no idea why, the first syllable of my name doesn’t even shorten to that!
  • What are your top 3 movies of all time and why?
The Martian is definitely up there, I love the science and comedy elements. I think the next two have to be Kiki’s Delivery Service, a lovely, sweet movie with a beautiful soundtrack, and the final movie of the Lord of the Rings trilogy which gives such an epic conclusion to the trilogy.
  • What’s your idea of “food heaven” and “food hell”?
My food heaven would be a mild curry, and food hell would be a spicy curry masquerading as a mild curry.
  • Why did you want to be part of the Asynt team?
I studied Biochemistry for four years at the University of Hull, and whilst I loved learning the science, I realised that a career in research wasn’t where I wanted to be. Asynt provided the unique opportunity to contribute to the scientific community, whilst also expanding my career in a different direction within a team of like-minded people.
  • What are you most interested in/excited about in your new role?
The opportunity to work on videos and brochures really appeals to my creative side, however I can’t deny that the analytical side of me is really interested to learn more about the customer interest evaluation side of marketing.

  • Anything else you think our customers should know?
My masters project was on the presence of painkillers in the Humber estuary, and my third year project was on the effect of vertebrate hormones on blue mussels, so environmental and ecotoxicological concerns remain a subject I’m quite keen on.
My hobbies mainly revolve around music, I’ll pick up any instrument if given the chance although the violin is my main instrument of choice.

We hope you’ve found this insight into the newest member of the Asynt team interesting.
